Public Consultation: Didmarton War Memorial Renovation

Didmarton Parish Council is seeking local views on a proposed renovation of the Didmarton War Memorial. Any renovations would be undertaken by an experienced stonemason or memorial conservator.

The proposed project aims to:

  • Undertake a specialist cleaning process, using appropriate conservation methods to gently remove dirt and biological growth without damaging the stone.

  • Recarve and repaint inscriptions, and the names of the fallen, to ensure they remain clearly legible and to preserve the memorial’s historical significance.

We welcome your thoughts on this important restoration. Do you support the work? Do you have any concerns or suggestions? Would you be prepared to make a donation towards the work?

Please share your views by Sunday 27th April 2025 via email to the Clerk to the Parish Council at [email protected]

Your feedback will help ensure the memorial continues to honour those who served, and who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
